This fish inhabits waters at depths of ۳ to 60 meters, particularly in rocky areas, coral reefs, and hard seabeds.

Its body color is typically reddish-brown, and it can reach a maximum length of ۱۲۰ cm. A distinctive feature of the grouper is its lower jaw, which extends slightly beyond the upper jaw.

Nutritional Benefits of Grouper Fish

Grouper is known as one of the fattest fish in the southern seas, though the fat it contains is mainly omega-3 fatty acids. In fact, Hamour is regarded as a rich source of omega-3.

The delicious flesh of this fish is highly nutritious and contains valuable minerals and vitamins such as B vitamins, potassium, and phosphorus. These nutrients help strengthen brain cells and thereby support overall health.

Its exceptionally high phosphorus content has earned it the nickname “the phosphorus bomb.”

Suggested Cooking Methods

The flesh of grouper is firm yet flavorful. Its thick, shiny skin and cohesive meat make it highly popular in southern cuisine, as it does not fall apart after cooking.
